Ishasha Adventure Tours

Ishasha is a town, in Rukungiri District, in southwestern Uganda. Ishasha is located approximately 268 miles by road, southwest of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. This location is near Uganda’s International border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ishasha lies close to the southwestern tip of Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP), the most visited national park in Uganda. The topography in this area of the national park is significantly different from the other areas of QENP. The Ishasha Sector of QENP is home to the tree-climbing lions, unique to this area. The males of these lions sport manes that are black, another unique feature.

The landmarks within the town limits or near the town include:

  • The offices of Ishasha Town Council
  • Ishasha Central Market
  • The International Border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
  • Ishasha Airport – A civilian airport serving Ishasha and the neighboring Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Virunga National Park – Across the border in DRC
